Cullman funeral home shooting injures 2, suspect arrested: ‘Pray for the family,’ sheriff says
Two people were injured when shots rang out at a Cullman County funeral home Monday morning.
The shooting happened at Cullman Funeral home, said Sheriff Matt Gentry. The sheriff said a funeral was taking place when shots were fired inside.
The sheriff, along with Cullman police Chief Dave Nassetta and District Attorney Champ Crocker, held a press briefing outside the funeral home, which is located on Highway 278 East.
Gentry said a male and female were wounded. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The male suspect was quickly taken into custody in the funeral home parking lot. Charges are expected to be filed shortly.
‘’The first thing I would ask you to do is pray for the family and all those who are going through this,’’ Gentry said. “Anytime you have loss and then an incident like this, it just compiles that.”
