Former Alabama center Cliff Omoruyi signs with NBA team: Report
Alabama basketball saw a third former player sign with an NBA team as an undrafted free agent on Friday. After the conclusion of the NBA Draft, Crimson Tide center Cliff Omoruyi signed a two-way deal with the Toronto Raptors, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic.
Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats reacted to the news on social media.
“Congrats to Cliff signing with the (Raptors),” Oats wrote in the post. “The hard work is paying off!”
Omoruyi spent one season in Tuscaloosa. He transferred in from Rutgers for his final year of college basketball, in an attempt to provide an inside presence that Alabama noticeably lacked during its Final Four run in the 2023-24 season.
The Nigerian native finished his lone year with the Crimson Tide with 7.9 points per game, and 6.5 rebounds per game. He also chipped in 1.1 blocks per game.
Omoruyi will likely be headed to the G-League. He joined two of his Alabama teammates who also signed with NBA teams after going undrafted, with Mark Sears joining the Milwaukee Bucks and Grant Nelson on his way to the Brooklyn Nets.
The 6-foot-11, 250-pound Omoruyi will be the lone former Alabama player on Toronto’s roster.
