Alabama football lands 4-star TE commitment for 2026 recruiting class

Alabama football landed a major recruiting win at tight end on Thursday. Four-star prospect Mack Sutter committed to the Crimson Tide as part of the 2026 class.

Sutter announced the news on social media. He shared a video of himself in a UA uniform.

Sutter is listed as the No. 6 tight end in the class by the 247Sports composite rankings, which also place him as the No. 80 overall player in the 2026 group. He plays his high school football at Dunlap in Illinois.

“Immense production on both sides of the ball at the IHSA 6A level, receiving snaps at QB, WR, TE, EDGE, and LB,” 247Sports national analyst Hudson Standish wrote in his assessment of Sutter. “Above-the-rim finisher on the basketball court, which directly translates to playmaking ability in contested catch situations. Defensive snaps are good enough that he could reasonably continue his career as an edge rusher at the next level.

“Encouraging moments in limited reps as a blocker, along with his physical play on defense offer plenty of long-term promise as he works more in an attached role on Saturdays.”

Sutter caught 35 passes for 505 yards as a junior in 2024. He had 36 tackles, including eight sacks, and an interception on defense for Dunlap.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Sutter chose the Crimson Tide over a plethora of offers, including Ohio State, Illinois and Ole Miss. He became Alabama’s second big recruiting win on Thursday, following five-star running back EJ Crowell’s pledge to the Tide.

With the two additions, UA’s 2026 class is up to 12 players. Crowell and cornerback Jorden Edmonds are the group’s two five-star talents, and the class also includes quarterback Jett Thomalla.

With the additions from Thursday, the Crimson Tide’s class climbed in the recruiting rankings. UA’s 2026 group now sits 11th in the nation according to the 247Sports composite, up from 35th.

Only three SEC schools, Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M, had classes ranked ahead of Alabama’s as of Thursday evening.
