Man charged in drug overdose death of 29-year-old woman at Trussville hotel
A 56-year-old man has been charged with a felony crime in the drug overdose death of a woman at a Trussville hotel.
Kenneth Bernard Clay is charged with manslaughter in the March 14 death of 29-year-old Carley Nicole Johnson.
Johnson died at 6:53 p.m. that Friday at the Hampton Inn on Edwards Lake Road.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Johnson died from acute fentanyl and cocaine intoxication.
Trussville police launched an investigation into Johnson’s death.
Charging documents against Clay allege he furnished the drugs to Johnson.
Clay was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday and released later in the day after posting $30,000 bond.
