Finebaum on Thomas Castellanos’ Alabama comments: The perception is Florida State sucks’
Paul Finebaum predicted Alabama’s dominant win over Florida State in the season opener to that of a junior high student getting stuffed in a locker.
The SEC Network analyst reacted to Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos’ comments that the Crimson Tide can’t stop him.
“I know one thing: Every Alabama players has read it,” Finebaum told McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning on 94.5-FM WJOX. “They really didn’t need the motivation for the first game of the season, but the motivation comes from the perception that Florida State sucks. They had the worst season last year that any major team has ever had.”
The Seminoles finished 1-7 in the ACC and 2-10 overall last season.
However, that didn’t stop FSU’s newest quarterback from making such strong statements.
Castellanos transferred to Florida State this offseason after he played for former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien at Boston College.
“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos said. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast. I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me.”
Finebaum called it a “terrible” look for Castellanos and the program.
“It’s impossible for me to respect Florida State,” Finebaum said. This comment made it even worse.
“I think Alabama will go in there and obliterate them. Will this comment be a factor? No, it won’t be. I just think Alabama has a really good team. Florida State isn’t in any condition, this comment or not, to compete with Alabama.
“It’s going to be a blowout. It will be a wipe out. This comment will be stuffed down the throat like someone being stuffed in a locker in junior high.”
