Masked teen shot to death by clerk may have robbed the same Alabama gas station twice, sheriff says
The investigation into the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy has been turned over to the district attorney’s office, according to a news release from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 3:35 a.m. on Saturday, a store manager shot the teen during an attempted robbery at the Lucky 7 gas station at 702 St. Stephens Road in Prichard.
The teen fled the scene to the 700 Block of La Fargue Street, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to the release.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest and he was wearing a hoodie, a mask, and orange gloves.
A 9mm Taurus handgun was found next to his body, sheriffs said.
The release added that on June 9, at approximately 4:07 a.m., the same store was robbed by someone wearing similar attire (orange gloves, black hoodie) and using the same style of firearm.
Video footage from this prior incident has been provided to detectives with the district attorney’s office, according to the release.
No arrest was made at the time of the shooting, it says.
