Famed dancer, choreographer for 2 hit reality shows dead at 52
A dancer and choreographer best known for his work on a pair of hit reality series died Monday, June 16, according to a statement from his family.
Dave Scott, choreographer with season eight of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” and from season three onwards “So You Think You Can Dance,” was 52, People reported. Scott was also the choreographer behind the films “You Got Served, Step Up 2” and “Stomp the Yard.”
Scott’s death was confirmed via a statement posted on Instagram.

“We have lost an icon, a legend, a father and a dear friend. The weight of this loss will send ripples through time. But his memory and legacy will continue to live on,” the statement said. “We love you Dave Scott and everything you’ve accomplished and the joy and comfort you’ve brought to people will never be forgotten.”
No cause of death was released.
Scott’s death prompted an outpouring of grief from this who had worked with him.
Glee alums Kevin McHale said Scott was “like a big brother to many of us,” while Harry Shum Jr. thanked the choreographer for “spreading so much joy with your love of dance.”
Dancer, actress and choreographer Debbie Allen said Scott’s legacy will “forever live in our hearts.”
“Dave Scott, one of the most gifted and influential choreographers and creative directors in the Film, Television, and Hip Hop worlds, breathed his last 5 6 7 8 yesterday and joined God’s crew. His light, laughter, and legacy will forever live in our hearts. We will always speak his name. Rest well, my dear friend,” Allen said.
