Iran ‘would not hesitate’ to use nuclear weapon against America, Alabama congressman says
Alabama congressman Robert Aderholt said he hopes the world is a safer place now that President Trump decided to drop bombs in Iran on Saturday.
“As I have said, I believe that if Iran gets a functioning nuclear weapon they would not hesitate to use it against Israel or the United States,” Aderholt said in a statement on social media. “When they say death to Israel and death to America, we have no reason not to believe them.”
Trump announced earlier on Saturday that the U.S. military had carried out a “very successful attack” that struck three nuclear sites in Iran.
The decision to directly involve the U.S. comes after more than a week of strikes by Israel on Iran. Those strikes have moved to systematically eradicate the country’s air defenses and offensive missile capabilities, while damaging its nuclear enrichment facilities.
”All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump said in a post on social media. “A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home.”
Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl thanked Trump for bombing Iran, saying that the president “prevented a war.”
“You did what no one has had the courage to do for far too long,” Pearl, who is Jewish and a staunch supporter of Israel, said on social media.
Alabama Republican Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Katie britt both shared statements on social media supporting the president.
“God bless our Troops. God bless President Trump. And may God continue to bless the United States of America,” Tuberville said on X.
“I stand by President Trump,” Britt said on X. “Strong and surgical. Please pray for peace.”
Some of Alabama’s other congressional members also offered their support on social media.
