Coca-Cola Amphitheater parking, tickets, shuttles, cell phones: What to know for first show

The new Coca-Cola Amphitheater will open to the public on Sunday, June 22, for its first show in downtown Birmingham. Comedian Matt Rife is set to perform as part of his “Stay Golden Tour,” and about 9,000 fans are expected for the 7:30 p.m. show.

If you’re heading to the amphitheater this weekend, here are some things you need to know.

Amphitheater address: 2350 15th Ave. North, on the former campus of Carraway Hospital. Need a couple of landmarks? The venue is about a half-mile north of Protective Stadium and Top Golf, near the corner of 25th Street North and 15th Avenue North.

Gates open: 6 p.m.

Parking: Seventeen paid parking areas are listed on the amphitheater’s website, all within a few blocks of the venue. That includes two parking decks, with a combined 1,200 spots, close to the main entrance of the amphitheater on 25th Street, according to Jay Wilson of Live Nation. (The amphitheater is owned by the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex and managed by Live Nation.)

Parking areas open at 3:30 p.m. and close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. Spaces are first-come, first-served. Advance reservations can be made via the LAZ Parking website. Prices are $20-$30 plus fees.

Each parking area has a name (S2, S6, N1 and S16, for example) and a specific address. Be aware that one deck — N3 at 2575 17th Ave. North — is a seven-story garage with no elevator access, according to the LAZ Parking site.

ADA access: ADA parking is available at deck N1, 1564 25th St. North. “Courtesy golf carts will be available for transportation to the amphitheater at the corner of 14th Avenue North and 25th Street North and near parking decks N1 and N3,” the amphitheater website says. “Carts will be running on a continuous loop before and after the show and will be first come, first served.”

Shuttles: A shuttle route is planned along 24th Street North, with pickup and drop-off points at the Uptown entertainment district (near Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard) and parking lot S8 (near 14th Avenue North). The shuttle route is marked in yellow on the parking map, with symbols to pinpoint the drop-off and pickup points. Hours for shuttles haven’t been announced.

Bag policy: The amphitheater has a clear bag policy, similar to those at stadiums and other venues. It’s OK to bring clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, or small clutch bags no larger than 6 inches by 9 inches. All bags are subject to search upon entry.

Ticket info: Tickets for Rife’s show cost $54.50-$122 via Ticketmaster, plus taxes. During a Ticketmaster search on Thursday night, seats remained available in all three tiers of the amphitheater. There’s a $15 add-on via Ticketmaster for Fast Lane Access, which allows concertgoers to skip the regular line at the gate.

Stash your phones: Although cell phones and non-professional cameras are allowed at the venue, audience members cannot use cell phones, text, take photos or video, or use recording devices of any kind during Rife’s show. “Failure to adhere will result in ejection,” the Ticketmaster site says.

Rain or shine venue: “The show will go on whatever the weather. Unless it’s looking extra gnarly,” the amphitheater website says. Look for weather updates on the venue’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and X.
