A woman who worked at a school in Walker County was arrested in May after alleged sexual contact with a student.

Ashley Nichole McCarty, 31, is charged with having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19. The incident allegedly happened in February 2024 at her home in Sumiton, according to court documents.

McCarty was taken into custody on May 7. Her bond is posted at $30,000.

Court documents do not say where McCarty was employed or provide any more details about the incident.

Sexual contact between a school employee and a minor is a felony offense that generally carries a prison sentence between one and ten years.
