Denny’s makes an unexpected breakfast change

Fans of Denny’s are in for some good news. The breakfast chain now offers a vegan option.

Vegnews reports Dennys has rolled out The Plant-Based Pancake Slam.

The entree, which costs $11.99, is now available across 1,311 US locations.

The entree, which debuted in March, features two multigrain wheat pancakes made with flaxseeds, cinnamon, and brown sugar, and is served with crispy hash browns and seasonal fruit.

According to Vegnews, the meal is dairy free, but does contain wheat and soy.

In 2024, The LA Times reported Denny’s planned to close about 150 locations. The closures, according to The Times, represent about a 10% reduction in the number of locations the company operates. Denny’s Executive Vice President Steve Dunn said most of the locations were too old to be remodeled or are located in unprofitable areas.

Denny’s opened its first location in 1953 in Lakewood, California. It currently operates 1,586 restaurants, 1,514 are franchises and 72 are company-operated.
