UAB’s Trea Shropshire named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week
The Conference USA league office announced its weekly awards Monday and the UAB football team earned its third honor of the season following a 41-14 victory against Middle Tennessee State at home last week.
Senior wide receiver Trea Shropshire was named Offensive Player of the Week for his career performance in the win over the Blue Raiders.
It’s the first weekly award in Shropshire’s career.

Shropshire led the receiving effort for UAB, posting a career-high 193 yards on 6 catches, including a 68-yard touchdown catches near the end of the first half. Shropshire’s 193 yards are the eighth most in a single game in school history and moved the senior into 10th place on UAB’s career receiving yards list, totaling 1,327 yards and 11 touchdowns on 52 receptions.
Shropshire finished as the nation’s leader in yards per reception (26.0) last season and is currently leading the nation once more, averaging 28.5 yards per catch.
The Blazers (3-2, 1-1) remain at home and play hosts to Charlotte, Saturday, Oct. 15, at Protective Stadium in Birmingham.
