Alabama basketball schedules game against opponent with a familiar coach

Alabama men’s basketball will face a coach it knows well this season.

The Crimson Tide has scheduled a game against Kennesaw State for the 2025-26 season, a source with knowledge of the schedule confirmed to AL.com. The Owls are coached by Antoine Pettway, the former Alabama player and longtime assistant coach. Rocco Miller was first to report the matchup.

The game will be played Dec. 21 at Propst Arena in Huntsville.

Pettway spent 2008 through 2023 on the Alabama staff. He began his career as a graduate assistant for the Crimson Tide in 2005-06 before two seasons at Jacksonville State. Pettway specifically worked with Alabama coach Nate Oats for four seasons. Together, they won four SEC titles and reached the Sweet 16 twice.

Pettway also played for Alabama from 2000-04, playing on teams that won the SEC in 2002 and made the Elite Eight in 2004. Pettway is entering his third season with Kennesaw State.
