Family of missing Huntsville realtor Ronald Dumas ‘struggling to find answers,’ return to normalcy
As police continue to search for answers in the case of abducted Huntsville realtor Ronald Leslie Dumas Jr. , a private investigator says he is working to bring the man’s children “some sense of normalcy” this summer.
On Tuesday, James Andrews, who is working with the family to find Dumas, launched a GoFundMe for his three children, Kai (12), Lindsi (6), and Ryili Dumas (4), titled “Help Ronnie’s Kids Find Joy Amidst Tragedy.”
“Ronnie is a dedicated father who loves his children, and he was involved in every aspect of their lives right up until the moment he was taken away from them,” the page reads.
“The family, especially his 3 children, are struggling to find answers and bring their father home. These children have already been forced to celebrate Christmas and other family events without their father, and now they have birthdays and summer approaching.”
Andrews wrote that organizers “want to help these kids take their minds off the tragedy they are living through, even if just for a short time.”
Dumas was last seen on surveillance footage entering a liquor store with two women on Dec. 15. He left the store with them, appearing unharmed.
Dumas’ car was found on Interstate 40 in Camden, Tenn., on Dec. 16. His phone was also tracked heading south from Memphis on Dec. 21.
He was placed on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Missing Persons List as a missing adult on Dec. 23.
In February, Huntsville police said investigators had obtained critical new evidence “indicating that [Dumas] was abducted.”
According to the GoFundMe page, all donated funds will “go directly toward helping the kids feel some sense of normalcy while their mothers and other family members continue to help them navigate this crisis.”
“Kai turns 13 on June 11th, and he wants to celebrate at the Lego store,” it reads.
“Kai, Lindsi, and Ryili would all like to go to summer camp this year, and from personal experience I know how beneficial that would be for them!”
The page says that while it would cost “a few thousand dollars” for the three children to go to summer camp, “it will be worth every penny to bring these children some joy and moments of peace.”
The page has raised $600 of its $8,000 goal as of June 3.
“As we continue to search for Ronnie and answers, we cannot forget about the impact this is having on his young children,” it reads.
“We ask everyone that is able, please donate and share! Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us bring comfort and stability to these amazing kids during an unimaginable hard time.”
FOX13 reported in April that two people who were arrested in the case face multiple charges and also have a history of being accused of kidnapping.
Quintarius Shikelion White, 32, and Kierra Symone Clark, 27, both of Memphis, are currently in the Shelby County, Tenn. jail.
Three other people were arrested as accessories after the fact – harboring: Dedrick Woodard, 26; Cassy Feathers, 43, and Jasmine Braden, 28.
In February, police issued five warrants in connection with the case, which included White and Clark.
Others still being sought are:
- Toure Laron McLaurin, 33, of Memphis, wanted for first degree kidnapping.
- Sabrina Rochelle Chambers, 27, of Huntsville, wanted for first degree kidnapping.
- Carissa Cash, 33, of Memphis, wanted for first degree receiving stolen property.
Huntsville police are asking that anyone who recognizes or encounters these people to report their whereabouts immediately to local law enforcement.
