South Alabama lands commitment from Florida prep QB, son of former NFL player

South Alabama has landed a Class of 2026 commitment from quarterback Taylor Jacobs Jr., the son of the former Florida and NFL wide receiver.

Jacobs played his first three high school seasons at Chiles High School in Tallahassee, but has transferred this year to Lincoln. The 6-foot-1 left-hander passed for 15 touchdowns and ran for two more as a junior in 2024.

Jacobs announced his commitment on Tuesday via social media after attending South Alabama’s camp:

Jacobs — who also has scholarship offers from Navy and Florida A&M — is the third member of South Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class, along with Louisiana high school offensive lineman Sami Abdelhak and Clay-Chalkville defensive back Deon Callins. The early signing period for high school players begins Dec. 3.
