Auto services chain Monro closing 145 stores

Monro Inc., will shutter more than 145 stores across the country in the wake of declining sales.

The auto service company, which has more than 1,300 locations, is closing stores after sales dropped by $5.2 million, reports USA TODAY. According to the company’s earnings report, Monro reported a 4.9 % decrease in sales.

USA TODAY reports company leaders, including president and CEO Peter Fitzsimmons, are trying to identify key areas to boost sales, including closing the doors to more than 100 “underperforming” stores.

According to the earnings report, other goals include improving the company’s customer experience, driving profitable customer acquisition and activation, and increasing merchandising productivity.

“While our improvement plan will take time to implement, I believe that we will drive enhanced profitability and increase operating income and total shareholder returns in fiscal 2026,” Fitzsimmons said in the earnings report.

A Monro spokesperson told USA TODAY the company was not releasing the full list of stores slated for closure “at this time.”
