Tommy Tuberville’s campaign raises $1.9 million in single day: Who were the biggest contributors?
Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s campaign for governor received almost $2 million in contributions the day the senator announced he was entering the race.
A report filed with the Alabama Secretary of State’s office shows the Tuberville campaign received 31 contributions totaling $1.9 million on Tuesday.
Twenty-eight of the donors are from Alabama. The donations ranged in size from $20,000 from Maund Family Farm LLC in Athens to $175,000 from Chad Witcher of Cullman.
The other largest donations:
- Reid B. Dove of Dothan, $150,000.
- Beasley-Allen law firm of Montgomery, $100,000.
- Rita J. Armitage of Vestavia, $100,000.
- Louis Breland of Huntsville, $100,000.
- Breland Homes LLC of Huntsville, $100,000.
- Nathan L. Cox of Daphne, $100,000.
- Naphcare Inc. of Birmingham, $100,000.
- Silver Capital Advisers LLC of Boca Raton, Fla., $100,000.
- Bruce R. Wagner Sr. of Mobile, $100,000.
Under Alabama’s Fair Campaign Practices Act, candidates for state offices in next year’s election could begin raising money on May 19, one year before the primary.
Tuberville’s campaign described the haul as “shattering the previous Alabama record.” It was not clear how the campaign made that determination.
“Coach Tuberville broke the Alabama fundraising record in the first 24 hours of his campaign,” said Jackie Curtiss Cox, fundraiser for Tuberville’s campaign. “Every corner of Alabama is fired up and ready to fuel Coach to a landslide victory in November 2026.”
Gov. Kay Ivey in 2021 raised $1.2 million in the first four weeks of her campaign for reelection.
Ivey ending up spending $10.5 million in that campaign as she won the GOP primary without a runoff and cruised to victory in the 2022 general election.
