Automotive giant recalls over 1 million vehicles for faulty backup cameras

Ford recently announced a recall of 1,075,299 vehicles due to a possible issue with their backup cameras.

In affected vehicles, a software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse, according to a release from the company.

This can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The 2021–2024 Bronco, F-150, and Edge and the 2023–2024 Escape, Corsair, and F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600 trucks are all part of the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2022–2024 Expedition, 2022–2025 Transit, 2021–2023 Mach-E and Lincoln Nautilus, the 2024 Ranger and Mustang, and the 2022–2024 Navigator are also included.

Ford not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition as of May 29, according to the release.

Vehicle owners affected by the recall have been advised to wait for communications from Ford, which will begin July 16th, 2025, the release says.

A second letter will be sent once a fix is available, anticipated for third quarter 2025, according to the company.

The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S49.
