Two weeks of events to honor armed forces in north Alabama

North Alabama’s annual Armed Forces Celebration will stretch into two weeks this year, with many events open to the public.

Highlights include a celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday and the annual community softball game, where a team of Redstone Arsenal personnel and a team of local government and community leaders face off at Toyota Field for the Target Destroyed Trophy.

In addition, several retailers at Parkway Place Mall will be offering deals and discounts for military families. A full list is available here. And from June 2 to June 9, veterans and active duty service members will receive free admission to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center with at least one paid admission.

Here is a full list of events planned in and around Huntsville, according to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber.
