Salma Hayek on Channing Tatum giving her a lap dance in ‘Magic Mike’: ‘I deserve it’
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” has arrived, and we’re getting the lowdown on the lap dances you’ll see on a big screen near you, specifically one between co-stars Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault.
The film marks the second sequel and presumably the final entry for the Alabama native’s male stripper trilogy, two of the films directed by Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh (”Ocean’s Eleven,” “Erin Brockovich”). The plot this time: Mike takes to the stage again, following a business deal that went bust, leaving him broke and taking bartender gigs in Florida. Mike heads to London with a wealthy socialite who lures him with an offer he can’t refuse.
Hayek plays the socialite, and she recently made the rounds to discuss the already-famous lap dance she received from her famous co-star. During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the host stumbled over his words asking her about it.
“It is … you are … he’s like … he’s Channing all over your Tatum is what he’s doing,” Kimmel says. “He’s lifting you up. You’re on his head. You’re up against the wall. You’re up against the glass. That had to be somewhat exciting, right?”
After taking a breath, she said, “Yeah, it was also challenging.” Kimmel said it seemed a little dangerous, in fact.
“It was!” she said. “There’s one part that’s not in it where I’m upside down, my legs had to be somewhere. But upside down, one loses sense of direction.” She said she almost had a wardrobe malfunction that nearly resulted in injury. “I was really concerned because my pants were going away, and I couldn’t remember if I had underwear or not in this moment. So instead of putting my hands to protect my hands, I just held on to the pants.”
Kimmel said, “That was really something else.” He asked if she had previously had a lap dance, and she answered, “Not really.”
The host said, “Channing really knows how to do it,” which Hayek confirmed.
“If you’re going to start somewhere, why not Channing?” she said. “But you know what? I deserve it.” Hayek said she had previously played a stripper in past films, like 1995′s “From Dusk Till Dawn,” so now she could enjoy the other side of it.
Hayek married François-Henri Pinault in 2009 and recently began using his name in her credits and public appearances. Kimmel asked if scenes like the one with Tatum are the reason why she changed her name. “I don’t know what I would think if I saw my wife in that scenario,” Kimmel said. “You’re fully clothed, and yet, it is incredibly vigorous.”
Hayek said Mr. Pinault doesn’t have it so bad. “He gets the same, but even better and without the clothes,” she said, drawing “woos” from the crowd. Watch the clip below.

In November 2021, Tatum tweeted a pic of the “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” script’s title page, indicating original “Mike” director Soderbergh and screenwriter Reid Carolin would also return.
