Hangout Fest offers chance at free passes via ‘Earn-A-Ticket’ campaign

People willing to volunteer for an upcoming beach cleanup could earn passes to the 2023 Hangout Fest, event organizers announced Friday.

The “Earn-A-Ticket” program announced Friday is being offered in conjunction with Propeller, which describes itself as a for-profit public benefit corporation that seeks to promote positive social changes by overcoming some of the traditional limitations of nonprofits and business entities.

Propeller’s partners in this case are the Hangout fest and the Alabama Coastal Foundation, which will conduct a beach clean-up on March 19.

To get involved and potentially qualify for free festival passes, participants must fill out a brief online registration form at www.propeller.la and volunteer to take part in the March cleanup. Information released Friday says that “activists who complete all program requirements” will be eligible to redeem a three-day General Admission pass, but it does not specify what those program requirements are. More details are to be announced next week.

“Quantities are limited and spots are first come first served,” according to Friday’s announcement.

Information at Propeller’s website indicates that the campaign to leverage the festival’s drawing power into social impact will use a points system, with points being used to earn prizes such as shuttle passes and festival merchandise gift cards. Points can be earned by signing a Human Rights Campaign petition or joining a Natural Resource Defense Council call for action against climate change. Points also can be earned by donating to select nonprofits – including the Alabama Coastal Foundation and The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter — or by buying exclusive Hangout shirts through the campaign. Participants also enter a drawing for a Super VIP festival trip for two.

The festival takes place May 19-21 in Gulf Shores, with a lineup topped by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sza, Calvin Harris, Paramore and Lil Nas X. For full information visit www.hangoutmusicfest.com.
