A traffic accident is being investigated as a potential homicide, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Officers responded to a traffic accident Tuesday at about 7:51 p.m. on the 1200 block of Woodland Avenue.

A vehicle was found at the scene flipped over near Metals USA with a man dead inside, the department said.

“Upon further investigation, officers discovered the victim had a gunshot wound,” a department press release said. “The Mobile Police Department’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation.”

According to the police, the individual’s identity will be released once the next of kin have been contacted.
