Coaching Roundup: Prattville hires AISA state champion to lead basketball program
Letwan Hall, who led Valiant Cross to a state title in the Alabama Independent School Association earlier this year, has been named the new head basketball coach at Prattville High.
“We’re thrilled to welcome coach Letwan Hall to Prattville High School,” athletic director Blake Boren said in a news release. “He has a track record of success in high school basketball across multiple schools in Alabama, and we believe he is the right leader to elevate our program and build a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth — on and off the court.”
Hall replaces Jason Fisher, who led the Lions for three seasons. Hall also led East Memorial Christian to a state title and a runner-up finish. He has made four final fours and also has served as an assistant coach at Autaugaville.
“The gratitude I’m filled with today is so much,” Hall said. “I want to thank God and all those involved in Autauga County Schools. Prattville, I’m excited to get to work and turn our program into a championship-caliber program.”
Hall’s son, Deshawn, was the AISA Player of the Year this season.
Montgomery Catholic hires Courtney Ward
Courtney Ward is the new girls basketball coach at Montgomery Catholic.
A former star at Montgomery’s Jeff Davis High School and later at Florida State, Ward made history as one of the first woman to coach boys’ varsity basketball in Alabama. She led programs at Sidney Lanier, Pike Road and Park Crossing High School and consistently built winning teams.
“Coach Ward is an excellent addition to the Montgomery Catholic family,” school president Justin Castanza said. “She brings incredible experience and a true winning spirit to an established program that is ready to continue the quest for championship quality play and even higher level of character.”
Ward is also the founder of CWARD Basketball Camps, a youth-focused training program rooted in discipline, leadership, and skill development.
