Birmingham Stallions win a United Football League weekly award for the first time this season

Birmingham Stallions kicker Harrison Mevis is the Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 7 of the United Football League season.

Mevis becomes the first Birmingham player to win one of the weekly awards.

With the Stallions trailing the Houston Roughnecks by 12 points at halftime on Sunday, Mevis connected on field goals of 41, 20 and 52 yards to end Birmingham’s first three second-half possessions to start the Stallions on the way to a 33-25 victory.

Mevis has made 15 of his 16 field-goal attempts this season.

The other Week 7 award winners were DC Defenders quarterback Jordan Ta’amu as the Offensive Player of the Week and Defenders defensive tackle Joe Wallace as the Defensive Player of the Week. DC defeated the San Antonio Brahmas 33-24 on Friday night.

The award winners were announced by the league on Wednesday.
