Heat rising in Alabama: Some of the warmest weather of 2025 is on its way
Rain chances are expected to fall, and temperatures are expected to climb starting today across Alabama.
The rainy pattern of the past few days has shifted to drier and hotter as an area of low pressure moves away from the state, with some of the warmest weather of 2025 expected this week.
The National Weather Service is expecting high temperatures today to range from the low 80s in north Alabama to the upper 80s in south Alabama today. There is a chance for a few showers in spots but most areas are expected to remain dry (for a change).
Thursday and Friday could be a few degrees hotter, with some places in south and south-central Alabama getting into the 90s.

Rain chances will return to the forecast later on Friday and through the weekend as another weather disturbance affects the state.
The Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 1 risk for severe weather for part of north Alabama for Friday. However, the weather service noted that it was a conditional threat and that storms are not a sure thing.

Areas that don’t get rain over the weekend will again have a chance to heat up into the upper 80s or low 90s, according to weather service forecasts.
The warmer temperatures are expected to continue into next week, according to the weather service, with drier conditions taking hold again starting on Monday.
However, looking further into the future, there’s a chance for some “cooler” weather for at least part of the state closer to the end of the month.
Here’s the eight- to 14-day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center, which shows slightly increased probabilities (33-40 percent) for below-average temperatures for northern Alabama from May 21-27.
Central Alabama is expected to remain near average, and south Alabama has a 33-40 percent chance of being warmer than average, however:
