Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix gets holiday assignment from NFL

In the most recent Denver-Kansas City game, Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix threw for 321 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-0 victory over the Chiefs on Jan. 5.

But with the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs already secured, Kansas City rested many of its starting players on the final Sunday of the 2024 regular season. That probably won’t be the case on Dec. 25, when the AFC West rivals square off to complete a Christmas Day tripleheader in the NFL.

The Broncos and Chiefs will play at 7:15 p.m. CST Dec. 25 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Prime Video will televise the game.

Nix won Alabama’s Mr. Football award at Pinson Valley High School in 2018 and played the next three seasons at Auburn. He transferred to Oregon, where he played two seasons and finished third in the voting for the Heisman Trophy in 2023 before joining Denver as the 12th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Broncos won 10 games and made their first playoff appearance since 2015 last season. Kansas City posted a 15-2 record in 2024 and won the AFC championship for the third straight season before losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Denver also features former Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain III, the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024 season, and the Broncos used a fourth-round draft choice to obtain Crimson Tide linebacker Que Robinson on April 26.

The other two Christmas games have not been announced. They will be televised by Netflix.

The NFL will unveil the full schedule for the 2025 season at 7 p.m. Wednesday on NFL Network.
