Who will Auburn softball face in the 2025 NCAA tournament regionals?
The field for the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament is set, and Auburn will be traveling for the regional round.
The Tigers are the No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee regional and will face South Florida in the first round. Florida State and Robert Morris are the other two in the four-team regional. It’s Auburn’s 11th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, and the seventh straight time the Tigers have gone on the road for a regional.
Auburn made the tournament with an at-large bid after losing to Alabama in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament. The Tigers were the No. 15 seed in the SEC tournament after finishing the regular season 6-18 in conference play.
Despite the poor conference record, Auburn’s resume was boosted by its high RPI, ranking 16th in the country. Auburn’s RPI ranked ninth in the SEC, despite being tied with Missouri for the worst record in the conference.
South Florida enters the tournament after winning the American Athletic Conference, holding a 43-14-1 overall record. Despite the good record, the Bulls rank 21 spots below Auburn in RPI.
Auburn and South Florida face off at 11 a.m. on Friday, the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
