BPD’s Crime Reduction Team nabs suspect in deadly shooting of 28-year-old man
A suspect has been charged in the April shooting death of a Dothan man in Birmingham.
Sherman James Rountree, 32, is charged with murder in the slaying of 28-year-old Richard Alexander Wilson.
A motive has not been disclosed.
The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team took Rountree into custody Wednesday in the 200 block of Eight Court West.
Rountree, of Birmingham, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Wilson was found fatally shot on Sunday, April 27, inside a residence across from Legion Field.
Birmingham 911 received a call just before 7 a.m. reporting a person down inside a triplex unit in the 200 block of Eighth Court West. It wasn’t immediately clear who made the discovery.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said when North Precinct officers and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the home, the door was open. They found the victim inside, dead from a gunshot wound.
