This soft drink just passed Pepsi as the third most popular soda brand
Pepsi has been dethroned once again.
Last year, data from Beverage Digest reported the soft drink fell to the third most popular soda brand in the country after being surpassed by Dr. Pepper.
Now, Sprite has taken its place, reports The Daily Mail. The publication, citing data from Beverage Digest, says Sprite accounted for 8.03 % of all canned soda sales in 2024, pulling ahead of Pepsiās 7.97 %. Dr Pepper holds second place with 8.3%. Coke is still number one, with 19.1 percent.
Despite falling from the top three soda brands, Pepsi still has traction in the chain restaurant space. Last year, Subway announced a 10-year partnership with PepsiCo to supply beverages to the restaurant. Under the new agreement, Subway restaurants will offer an assortment of beverages from the PepsiCo portfolio, including Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Aquafina, and Gatorade.
A spokesperson for Pepsi told The Daily Mail the soda brand is focused on expanding its portfolio of beverages, which includes Zero Sugar options and flavor innovations like Wild Cherry. Last year, Pepsi released a line of limited-edition summer flavors.
