Notre Dame, ACC team agree to 12-year football scheduling deal

Notre Dame and Clemson have agreed to a 12-year deal to play each other through 2038, Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports is reporting.

“Notre Dame & Clemson have struck a 12-year annual football scheduling deal, sources tell @YahooSports,” Dellenger posted on X. “The series works independently of the ACC structure but does count as one of ND’s five ACC games. Irish also expected to play FSU & Miami more regularly.”

Notre Dame plays five games a year against ACC opponents. As Dellenger noted, this series will count toward that requirement.

How this impacts the ACC’s ability to rotate conference opponents is not yet known.

Clemson and Notre Dame were already scheduled to meet in 2027, 2028, 2031, 2034 and 2037.

According to Yahoo, Notre Dame and Clemson have been in “deep discussions for months over the deal.” The game, per the report, provides the Tigers a marquee matchup at a time when television viewership converts to real dollars.
