Man charged with murder in cousin’s killing in Opelika
A shooting late Sunday night in Opelika left one man dead and his cousin behind bars.
Opelika police were dispatched shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of Samford Place.
Authorities said officers arrived to find the 38-year-old victim dead inside a home.
Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton on Monday identified the victim as Quintaveious Johnson. The coroner said Johnson had been shot multiple times.
Police officials said Johnson’s cousin, 41-year-old Jamarlo Johnson, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder.
A motive has not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing.
