Alabama schedules opponent Auburn knows not to overlook

Aden Holloway will get another crack at beating Yale this season.

Alabama men’s basketball has added Yale to its nonconference schedule, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported Saturday. The date has not yet been announced or reported.

It will mark the first time since 2008 that the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide have faced each other. Alabama won that game 66-63 at Coleman Coliseum.

Yale more recently faced Auburn in the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The No. 13 seeded Bulldogs defeated the No. 4 seeded Tigers 78-76 in the first round. Holloway, a guard on that Auburn team, is heading into his second year with the Crimson Tide after transferring from the Plains following his freshman season.

Why Yale? Well, Alabama coach Nate Oats knows Yale coach James Jones, and gave him a hug outside the locker room in Spokane, Washington after the Bulldogs pulled off the upset in 2024. Plus, the Bulldogs have made three out of the past four NCAA Tournaments and should be able to give the Crimson Tide a quality game at home.
