3 Alabama stars invited to NBA Draft Combine
Mark Sears, Grant Nelson and Labaron Philon have all been invited to the NBA Draft Combine, the NBA announced Friday.
The three Alabama basketball players are part of a group of 75 total who have been invited to Chicago to partake in the event this month. The NBA Draft Combine is set for May 11-18 at Windtrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis.
Sears and Nelson cannot return to college as both saw their eligibility expire after the 2024-25 season that ended in the Elite Eight. Philon still has college eligibility remaining to use if he so chooses. But he must withdraw his name by May 28, which is the NCAA early entry withdrawal deadline, if Philon wants to return to college.
“I would say 100% draft, but you know, things can change,” Philon said earlier this week. “You never know. But I would say I love ‘Bama. The whole program, the school, the state. It was all love when I was playing there. I never received any hatred or nothing like that. Walking around school and just being a regular kid again was mostly the most fun part for me. I’ll never take that for granted. But I’m all in on the draft right now because I feel like I want to be a pro. You never know what can happen. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
