North Alabama school system dismisses early due to severe weather threat
An Alabama school system is dismissing early today due to the threat of severe weather.
A Level 3 out of 5 risk for severe weather remains in the forecast for the north part of the state.
Damaging winds, tornadoes and heavy rain will all be possible with the strongest storms.
So far just one school system has announced an early closure for Friday, May 2:
Lauderdale County Schools– will dismiss at 1 p.m.
The rest of the state has Level 1 and 2 risks today as well, according to the National Weather Service. Level 2 means scattered severe storms will be possible. Isolated severe storms will be possible in Level 1 areas.
