A man was critically injured when he was struck by lightning Thursday in Pell City.

Pell City firefighters were dispatched at 10:30 a.m. to 30th Street North in the Mill Village area.

Fire Chief Tim Kurzejeski said firefighters and medics arrived on the scene in less than a minute and found the injured man who was part of a crew working on trees.

The victim, he said, was struck by lightning while in a bucket truck.

He was extricated from the bucket, treated on the scene and then rushed to taken to UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
