Auburn football’s Eugene Asante signs with Miami Dolphins as undrafted free agent
The 2025 NFL Draft has concluded, and three Auburn football players were selected through seven rounds.
Jarquez Hunter was selected by the Rams with the 117th pick. KeAndre Lambert fell to the Chargers for the 158th pick, and Jalen McLeod was taken by the Jaguars with the 194th pick.
Outside linebacker Eugene Asante signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent, according to multiple reports.
Asante spent three seasons on the Plains, transferring to Auburn from North Carolina. He tallied 134tackles, 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble, serving as the Tigers’ team captain on defense.
According to NFL.com, Asante graded out at 6.00, ranking 15th amongst the linebackers. Asante attended both the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, where he had the second-fastest 40-yard dash time for linebackers at the combine.
“I’m going to come in every single day and compete given whatever role I have,” Asante said at Auburn’s Pro Day. “I’m certainly somebody like that. Come in, put my head down. It’s just kind of like college all over again.”
With Asante gone, the Tigers will be pretty young at the linebacker position. Sophomore Demarcus Riddick and freshman Elijah Melendez will be two names to watch to fill that role for Auburn’s defense this fall.
