Alabama football pulled off a spring move not seen at any other SEC school
Alabama football and Kalen DeBoer managed to do something this spring that no other SEC team did.
Not a single scholarship player from the Crimson Tide roster entered the transfer portal in the 10-day spring window. No other SEC team can say that, per AL.com research.
The window closed Friday; Players had until then to file the paperwork with their schools to enter the transfer portal if they wanted. For those who did submit the paperwork Friday, their names might not show up for a few days in the portal. But a source with knowledge of Alabama’s transfer portal movement told AL.com that no scholarship players had submitted the paperwork to transfer before the deadline.
“I think we did a really good job of managing the roster, especially with kind of areas that we need to open up and make room for guys coming in, and just find that right mix of guys that are returning with newcomers that came on board,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said April 17 in Mobile.
LSU was the next closest with only one transfer portal entry from its scholarship players. Florida and Texas A&M have had two. Ole Miss is on the high end with nine scholarship players entering the portal in the spring window.
Here’s the total tally for scholarship players who’ve entered the portal as of about noon CT on Saturday.
