Auburn, Alma Bryant split in Class 7A playoff doubleheader, face Game 3 Saturday
Auburn and Alma Bryant will go to a decisive Game 3 on Saturday to see who advances in the Class 7A playoffs.
The homestanding Hurricanes won Game 1 4-3 in walk-off fashion before the Tigers rallied to win Game 2 10-0 in six innings.
Game 3 is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
In Game 1, Landon Adams’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth proved to be the winning run for the Hurricanes, who won despite committing 4 errors.
Connor English pitched the first 8 innings for Alma Bryant, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits and striking out 6. Alex Ramos got the win with an inning of relief. Max Autrey, the third Auburn pitcher, took the loss.
Weston Luther and Antwane Daniels each had 2 hits for the Tigers.
Angelo Santiago was the offensive star for Auburn in Game 2. He went 3-for-4 with a homer, triple, 7 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Luther was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored.
Will Whatley limited Alma Bryant to 3 hits and struck out 11. He walked just 2. Starter Austin Boulch took the loss.
The Hurricanes are now 20-12. Auburn is 19-16.
