Davidson advanced to the girls Class 7A, Area 1 tournament championship game with a 58-20 victory over Baker on Wednesday.

Sixth-ranked Davidson (26-4) got 17 points from Jenice Adjessom to lead the scoring. Morgan Barnett added 12 points and Cristyle Mauldin scored 11 points.

Jeslyn Kellum led Baker with 13 points.

Host Davidson plays Mary G. Montgomery, which beat Alma Bryant 49-39, for the area championship on Friday at 6 p.m.

Both teams will advance to the South Regional at Montgomery’s Garrett Coliseum. The area title game will determine seeding.

Lakeside 37, Hooper 23: Coach Ricky Ward guided Lakeside to it’s 23rd state championship game in his tenure, posting a 11-11 record in title games.

Lakeside led Hooper 15-14 at the half, but a 22-9 second half advantage proved the difference.

Jayden Green led the Chiefs with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals while Elizabeth Erickson added 8 points and 2 steals.

Lakeside will play for the title at the Montgomery Multiplex at 1 p.m. on Friday.
