South Alabama defensive end headed to transfer portal

South Alabama defensive end Jalyn Durgan has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Tuesday.

Durgan, a senior with one year of eligibility remaining, played in 13 games in a reserve role for the Jaguars in 2024. The Ocean Springs, Miss., native totaled 13 tackles and one-half sack in his first season at South Alabama after transferring in from junior college.

Durgan is the 11th South Alabama player to enter the portal during the current transfer window, which runs through Friday. Five of those who have departed were returning or projected starters for 2025.

South Alabama has added one player through the portal thus far — quarterback Zach Pyron, who played three years at Georgia Tech before spending this past spring at Minnesota.
