Saban eyeing investment in pro sports team with who Forbes dubs as man who will make him billionaire
Nick Saban is “eyeing” investing in a pro sports franchise.
That’s the word from Joe Agresti, the man Forbes has dubbed “The Man Who Will Make Nick Saban A Billionaire.”
In a wide-ranging profile piece with Agresti, a car dealership owner who has made billions, it was revealed the former Alabama coach-turned-ESPN college football analyst could get into the professional sports team game.
“Agresti says he, Saban and (Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve) Cannon are eyeing investments in ‘three or four’ professional sports teams in Tennessee (he won’t say which) and an ‘automotive-related’ business in South America,” Forbes reports. “Then there’s the agreement to expand his dealership empire into a sixth state and ‘a whole myriad of different brands’ besides Mercedes, Infiniti and Ferrari.”
The profile piece delves into the integral role Agresti played in Saban’s journey into the automotive business.
The two first met during a 30-minute meeting, which lasted four hours.
To date, per Forbes, their Dream Motor Group has nine dealerships in Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Texas and Florida. Annual revenues are approaching $2 billion.
“It’s one of the best decisions I ever made,” Saban said of Agresti to Forbes. “It’s been really good for both of us.”
