President Donald Trump says he will deliver University of Alabama commencement address
President Donald Trump announced Monday night he will give the commencement speech at the University of Alabama.
The president made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“I have agreed to do the Commencement Address at two really GREAT places, the University of Alabama and, WEST POINT. Stay tuned for times and dates!!! DJT”
Attempts to reach the university for comment were not immediately successful.
The UA spring commencement is scheduled for May 2-4.
The president’s last trip to Tuscaloosa came last Sept. 28, 2024 when he attended the Alabama-Georgia game at Bryant-Denny Stadium during the midst of his campaign.
Trump also attended the 2019 LSU-Alabama game during his first administration. He also stopped by the national championship game during the 2017 season in Atlanta.
Trump has a deep connection with Alabama since 2015, when former Sen. Jeff Sessions appeared on stage with him during a rally at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Sessions went on to a turbulent stint as Trump’s attorney general until 2018.
