Pedestrian fatally struck by freight train in western Jefferson County
A man was killed when he was hit by a freight train in west Jefferson County Sunday night.
The crash happened at 10:45 p.m. in the 5500 block of Avenue A in the Bessemer area, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:52 p.m. Additional details weren’t not released.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the victim has not yet been identified.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
