Meet Alabama’s 5 best girls high school basketball players for the 2024-2025 season

Who were the five best high school basketball players in Alabama for the 2024-2025 season?

The Alabama Sports Writers Association announced its Super All-State (or Super 5) team on Tuesday at the annual Player of the Year Banquet in Montgomery.

The event was sponsored by ALFA Insurance and the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.

Miss Basketball winner Ace Austin, who won the award for a second straight season, highlights this season’s five selections.

Here is a look at the complete Super All-State team followed by the boys players of the year and coaches of the year for the 2024-2025 season.

Ace Austin, G, Spring Garden (Senior)

The first two-time Miss Basketball in state history averaged 26.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.2 steals per game for Spring Garden this season, which won its third straight Class 1A state title.

The Alabama signee also won Gatorade Player of the Year and MaxPreps Player of the Year this year, also her second straight year winning both honors.

Saniya Jackson, G, Park Crossing (Senior)

The Park Crossing star averaged 19.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists to lead Park Crossing to a Class 6A state championship victory over Chelsea.

The Class 6A Player of the Year has over 2,400 points and holds offers that include Jacksonville State, Alabama State, Nicholls State and Texas Southern.

Lani Smallwood, G, Albertville (Junior)

The Mississippi State commit averaged 23 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Albertville, which advanced to the Northeast Regional final this season.

The Class 7A Player of the Year also added 111 steals on defense and surpassed 2,000 career points this season with the Aggies.

Belle Hill, of Mars Hill Bible, is the 3A girls player of the year, with the AHSAA’s J.T. Belle Hill, G/F, Mars Hill Bible (Freshman)

One of the top freshman prospects in the nation, Hill averaged 28.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game for the Panthers.

The three-time player of the year winner also added 115 steals on defense and holds offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, Michigan State and Mississippi State.

Shila Marks, G, Lauderdale County (Senior)

Marks helped lead Lauderdale County to a Class 3A state championship as a senior, averaging 19.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this year.

She has over 2,600 career points and scored a game-high 32 points against Saint James in the Class 3A state title game.
