Ex-Troy basketball star commits to Big Ten school, reports say

Former Troy basketball star Tayton Conerway has committed to Indiana, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-3 Conerway was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2024-25, when he averaged 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while leading the league in both assists (4.8 per game) and steals (2.9 per game). He was also the Sun Belt tournament Most Valuable Player for the Trojans, who finished 23-11 and reached the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2017.

Conerway was listed as a senior this past season, but got a year of eligibility back following the NCAA’s Diego Pavia ruling in December. A native of Burleson, Texas, he played three years at Ranger (Texas) Junior College before transferring to Troy prior to the 2023-24 season.

Conerway joins an Indiana team that went 19-13 and failed to reach the NCAA tournament for the second straight season in 2024-25. The Hoosiers hired former Drake coach Darian DeVries in March following the resignation of Mike Woodson.

Conerway was one of four Troy basketball standouts who entered the transfer portal following the season, and the last to publicly choose his destination. Forward Jackson Fields signed with West Virginia on Tuesday, while guard Marcus Rigsby signed with Texas-Arlington earlier this month and forward Myles Rigsby — Marcus’ younger brother — committed to Tulsa.
