Alabama mother arrested after infant shot in arm

A 1-year-old infant suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot Tuesday morning, according to the Mobile Police Department.

The department said that the child’s mother, Joli Reid, was arrested after the incident. But the department did not specify how the child sustained the injury or what Reid allegedly did to be arrested.

Blake Brown, the department’s public information officer, stated there was nothing further to release currently.

“This is still an active investigation and we don’t have anything further to release just yet,” Brown said. “This is all we know at this time.”

According to jail records, Reid was charged with first degree assault.

The incident occurred at about 4:50 a.m. on the 6900 block of Dickens Ferry Road.
