Jax State adds veteran defensive lineman out of Georgia Southern

Former Georgia Southern defensive lineman Isaac Walker has signed with Jacksonville State, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The longtime Georgia Southern defender and native of Greensboro, N.C., will have one season of eligibility remaining with the Gamecocks.

Walker played in 38 games across four seasons with the Eagles, totaling 59 tackles (34 solo), 14.5 tackles for loss, 11 passes defended, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and an interception.

Last season saw Walker, a first team all-Sun Belt Conference pick and member of the Lombardi Award Watch List, totaled 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 3 passes defended and 1.5 sacks for the Eagles.

Walker announced his departure from the team on Nov. 16 after a 28-20 loss to Troy via social media after the loss.

His most productive season with the Eagles came in 2023, when he garnered third team All-Sun Belt Conference honors after totaling 24 tackles (13 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 7 passes defended, 5 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries.

He lead all Division I FBS players in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries that season for the Eagles.

Walker was ranked as the No. 93 linebacker in the nation by 247Sports out of Hough High School and totaled 84 tackles and 20 sacks as a senior.
