Vegetables sold at Walmart recalled due to possible listeria contamination
California-based Duda Farms has issued a voluntary recall of more than 1,500 cases of celery sticks sold at Walmart due to the possibility they could be contaminated with listeria.
According to an announcement from the FDA, the recall affects four-count, four-inch bundle packs of Marketside Celery Sticks sold at Walmart. The bags have a UPC code of 6 81131 16151 0 on the back of the bag with a “Best if Used By” date of March 23.
The potentially affected celery sticks were distributed to Walmart stores in 29 states, including Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. A full list of states is available here. All of the products are past their expiration dates and no longer for sale but could remain in people’s freezers.
The FDA is warning consumers who have this product in their possession, including in their freezers, not to eat and it and discard the packages.
To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this product.
