What is Jackson Arnold’s injury status? Hugh Freeze gives an update

Jackson Arnold was arguably Auburn’s biggest transfer addition this offseason, but fans will have to wait until the fall to see him in action at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

He missed Saturday’s A-Day open practice due to a minor leg injury suffered during Thursday’s practice. It happened during a portion that was open to media, as Arnold seemed to pull up and walk off gingerly at the end of a play.

Head coach Hugh Freeze didn’t sound worried about Arnold’s health when asked after about his quarterback after the A-Day practice, describing his absence as more precautionary than anything else.

“He’s feeling fine. He just didn’t need to run today,” Freeze said. “There’s no defect in the hamstring. You certainly don’t want to create one with one day left, going into an offseason that he needs to be ready to go.”

True freshman quarterback Deuce Knight took the first team reps in Arnold’s place, as those two were the only scholarship quarterbacks on campus this spring.
