Former UNA star, Lee-Huntsville alum joining Bucky McMillan at Texas A&M

The first signee for Bucky McMillan at Texas A&M is one with deep Alabama ties.

Former North Alabama star and Huntsville native Jacari Lane has committed to Texas A&M out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on Saturday.

The move comes one day after taking an official visit to College Station, which he posted on social media Friday.

Lane claimed his second straight first team all-ASUN Conference selection at North Alabama as he averaged 17.3 points, 4 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game for the Lions as a junior.

His standout 2024-25 campaign saw him set North Alabama’s Division I records in categories that include overall scoring, scoring average and 3-point percentage.

During his three seasons in Florence, Lane piled up 1,484 points to become the program’s leading scorer at the Division I level; he ranks fourth on the all-time scoring list behind three program hall of famers.

Before his time in Florence, Lane was a standout player at nearby Lee-Huntsville and helped lead the program to back-to-back Class 5A state titles.
